Killen assisted Norman Berry in establishing a congregation in Georgetown in 1979 and has continuously supported the work since that time. The congregation has grown to the point that they have assumed the oversight of the minister and a substantial part of his salary. Killen, Mars Hill and Georgetown continue to share in the building payments.
Tylertown, Mississippi
We continue to support Shun Evans, a preacher from Jackson, Mississippi. The work is slow, but some progress is being made.
Heritage Christian University
Larry Murdock - Brother Murdock is Director of Distance Learning for the University as well as a member of the faculty. Participating in this work gives us an opportunity to share in training preachers to serve all over the world. More information is available at: www.hcu.edu.
Windsor Park Prison Ministries
Buck Griffith - This group works with the prison systems in each state to allow Bible teaching. Brother Griffith has been helping with the baptism problem in the Georgia State Prison system where many of our correspondence students are. More information is available at: www.nlbm.org
UNA Christian Student Center
Danny Pettus - Killen, as well as other congregations in this area, has been involved in the support of this work for many years. Under the able direction of Danny Pettus and Andy White, it continues to have a very positive influence on the lives of the many young men and women who participate in the activities of the Student Center. Jim Martin serves on the Board of Directors. More information is available at: www2.una.edu/csc/.
Northwest Shoals Christian Student Group
An effort is underway to begin a Christian Student Center for the Northwest Shoals students. Tom Carter and Jordan Hamner have been very active in this effort. The Tuscumbia church leads this work.
Good News Network
The Good News Network provides Bible teaching over the internet 24 hours a day with live and pre-recorded sermons, acapella music, and recorded lessons. This is an exciting and wonderful new method of reaching and teaching people in every part of the world (Mark 15:15). We are looking forward to great results from this outreach. The internet address is www.Good-News-Network.org
Sesser, IL
We are providing partial support for Jason Adams who began work there on January 1, 2008. This small, but strong congregation is excited about Jason and his family working with them to help them.
Hinton, West Virginia
During 2007 the Killen congregation began the partial support of John McCain, minister of the Hinton Church of Christ. The congregation has overseers, between 50 and 60 members and is working toward self-sufficiency.
New Mission Point in the United States - Long-term plans are under way to locate another point in the U.s. to assist in the coming years. Members keep your eyes and ears open for opportunities where the Lord’s church is not in existence.
Foreign Mission Work
Albania
Bill and Nancy Saltsman had worked with the church in Korce since 1995. They returned to the U.S. in February of 2007. Thankfully, the Maryville Church of Christ in Maryville, TN had also been interested in sending missionaries to Albania. Overseen by the shepherds of the Maryville congregation, Kevin and Allison Morrill took over the Saltsman’s work in Korce, Albania in September 2007. Killen is providing partial support for this worthy endeavor.
India
Vinay David - Killen has the oversight of Vinay’s work in the north of India. Vinay is developing a preacher training school for New Delhi and northern India.
John Deen Muppidi - John finished his school work and returned to India in December of 2006. He is the director of the preacher training school at Skinner’s Garden and assisting his father with other aspects of the work there.
M. Samuel Raju - Brother Samuel is the father of John Deen. He oversees the operations at Skinner’s Garden and has wide experience preaching, training preachers and organizing benevolent works.
O. Jayarao - Killen provides full support for Brother Jayarao and his family.
Wayne Barrier - World Evangelism - Wayne works under the oversight of the Church of Christ at Double Springs, Alabama. Wayne does missionary work in India and Southeast Asia. He also coordinates Bible literature and teaching programs which are presented by the native people. His web site is www.worldevangelism.org
Pacific Island Work
Randy English and his family have been in the Pacific for 18 years. They have done a marvelous job and have touched many lives, including many of us at Killen. They are embarking on an exciting new radio work that will spread the gospel via radio to the entire South Pacific. His website is http://www.churchofchrist1.org/randyenglish.htm.
Rocco Pierce and his family have moved to American Samoa to work in the radio program to relieve Randy English to work on the larger system to broadcast into all of Southeast Asia.
Korea
Korean Bible School. Killen provides partial support for this work. Bill Ramsey is our contact in this effort.
Nigeria
John Inetianbor - Killen provides full support for Brother Inetianbor, a native of Nigeria. John preaches and follows up on our Bible Correspondence Course students to teach and convert them. The work continues to be very successful.
Doug Wheeler - Brother Wheeler is now working with the Westside Church of Christ in Norman, Oklahoma as their missionary in residence. He concentrates his efforts full-time to the work in Nigeria. He has been our eyes and ears in Nigeria for several years. More information is available at: www.westsidechurchofchrist.org/missions_wheelers.php.
Thailand
Subin Panboon - Killen assists in the literature program directed by Subin which has proven to be a good means of teaching the Gospel in Thailand. To date this program has taught over 1,000,000 students through correspondence.
Eastern European Mission
Our support helps them to spread the Gospel in Eastern Europe through the printing and distribution of Bibles and other material in the native languages. More information is available at www.eem.org
